Smart ForTwo Passion Redesign

As the first real redesign of the practical and fuel-efficient Smart car, the newest Smart ForTwo Passion is a big improvement on the original, fun two-seater. The new 2016 Smart ForTwo Passion maintains the same length as its predecessor but is wider, sportier, and loaded with extra features. It also has 8-spoke 15-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and a convenient hatchback for carrying your goodies. But the most appealing thing about the new 2016 Smart Passion is its fresh styling and the two-tone color scheme that make it fun not only to drive, but to look at.

To start with, a two-tone interior with matching trim gives the new Smart Passion’s cockpit a much sportier look and feel. An 8-inch wider body places the seats further apart, providing more elbow and shoulder room for both occupants. An optional sunroof adds to the more spacious feel, and creates an open and airy feel – a nice accomplishment in such a small car.

Also new for 2016 is the option of a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. This Twinamic® automatic is a break from the standard 5-speed manual found in the previous generation, but that’s still available for those who want it. The fuel economy with either transmission is 39 MPG on the highway, with the automatic getting a slightly higher rating in city driving at 33 MPG vs. 32 with the manual. What’s also new with this generation of Smart cars is the much quieter and smoother ride you can expect.

With standard features like cruise control, power windows, powered and heated mirrors, Bluetooth hands-free and more, you might think this is a Mercedes-Benz C-Class… ok, maybe not. But the Smart ForTwo Passion offers far more than you would think for such a low starting MSRP. And when you consider the list of available add-ons, the Smart Passion gets even better. Things like heated seats, rain-sensing wipers, panoramic sunroof, JBL audio and more give this Smart car enough goodies to satisfy anyone.

Other features of the new 2016 Smart ForTwo Passion include a 3-cylinder turbocharged engine that powers the rear wheels. This combination delivers a zero-to-sixty time of around 10 seconds, and a top speed of 96 miles an hour. While these numbers aren’t very impressive when compared to a Mercedes-Benz luxury sedan, consider that the turning radius of the Smart Passion is only slightly greater than the entire length of an S-Class sedan.
