Two Great Cars, One Clear Winner

When it comes to comparing luxury sport sedans, the compact segment has grown in size noticeably in recent years. The Mercedes-Benz C300 Sedan is a perfect example of this. Having gained significantly in both overall length and width, the C300 now has a more spacious and luxurious cabin space than ever before. The Audi A4 on the other hand retains the same body style and dimensions as it has for the past several years. That isn't the only difference of course - the C300 is more powerful, has better handling, includes more standard features.

Comparing Performance

For 2018, the Mercedes-Benz C300 4MATIC comes standard with full-time all-wheel drive, while the Audi A4 only offers their all-wheel drive Quattro as an option. The standard transmission on the C300 is a 9-speed automatic with paddle shifters, while the A4 uses a CVT and doesn't even offer paddle shifters. Power output from the C300's turbocharged 4-cylinder is 241-horsepower, compared with the A4's 190-horsepower engine. Finally, the C300's Agility Control performance-based suspension automatically adjusts to the road surface and driving conditions. The Audi A4 doesn't offer a comparable suspension.

Comparing Interior Features

The updated cabin in the C300 is both stylish and plush. The dash wraps around into the door panels, creating a sense of continuity and flow. Available interior trims include rich, warm wood accents, sleek and glossy lacquer and aluminum, or customized leather trim. By comparison, the Audi A4's interior can seem stark and minimalist. Convenience features include a 14-way power adjustable driver's seat on the C300, while the A4 is limited to 8-way adjustments. The split-folding rear seats in the C300 fold flat, and offer significantly more room than the A4.

Stay Entertained While Driving Around Colorado

For audio and entertainment, the C300 offers features like dual high-resolution screens, exclusive touchpad interface at the driver's fingers, an in-car Wi-Fi Hotspot, available COMANDĀ® hard-drive navigation, Mercedes-Benz mbraceĀ®, and more. Many of the features offered on the C300 are not available on the Audi A4.

Safety Feature Comparisons

Both the Mercedes-Benz C300 and the Audi A4 are exceptionally safe cars. Each receives top marks from the various safety agencies and independent tests. That said, Mercedes-Benz has exclusive safety features and available options that Audi doesn't offer on their vehicles. One such safety feature is the standard Collision Prevention Assist Plus offered on the C300. This radar-based system uses Adaptive Brake Assist to automatically provide the correct level of braking for the situation. Other safety features include Active Blind Spot Assist, PRE-SAFE Braking with Pedestrian Recognition, and BAS Plus with Cross-Traffic Assist.
