To keep you connected without becoming distracted, the 2017 E-Class offers two smartphone-like pads to control nearly all the car's features so you can keep your hands on the wheel while keeping in touch. Swipe and select from the central screen with your right thumb. Change settings on the screen between the gauges with your left. A panoramic 12.3-inch screen unites navigation, entertainment and countless comfort features with a second 12.3-inch graphical instrument cluster available.

The 2017 E-Class introduces autonomous defensive driving countermeasures, which protect you like no other car on the road. In addition to protecting your body, it even has technology to protect your senses. When the E-Class tactical array detects an impending collision the PRE-SAFE® Sound Emitter generates waves of "pink noise" to pre-trigger your ears' natural defense against loud impact noises. Of course, the E-Class also takes your physical protection to new heights with features like PRE-SAFE® Impulse Side, an industry first that mitigates the force from a side impact. PRE-SAFE® Impulse Side does this rapidly inflating the front-seat bolster, removing you from the direct impact zone. DRIVE PILOT takes intelligent cruise control in a new direction: sideways. It can stop and go with the flow, and help you stay between the lines, even in curves. And now you can change lanes with just a touch of the turn-signal lever.
